ADL Membership Information
All North Carolina health professionals are eligible for membership in the AHEC Digital Library (ADL). ADL memberships are offered in several different categories, some at no charge to individual health care professionals.
Membership in the ADL consortium is available to North Carolina hospitals on a cost-share membership fee based on the size of the hospital. Individual health care providers not covered by their hospital membership may purchase an individual membership. Details about these paid memberships are available below. The collection contains the following resources:
- Online databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, Cochrane
- Online journals collections in Nursing, Allied Health, Psychology, Health Administration
- 1000+ full-text journals
- 50+ full-text books
- Patient education materials, links to continuing education, evidence-based medicine tools, mobile resources and other clinical and teaching tools.

Hospital Consortium Members
Regional AHEC hospital locations
Staff and attending physicians at the following hospitals are eligible for memberships in the AHEC Digital Library. These memberships are paid by the individual hospital administration and are available at no-cost to all staff members.

Community Hospital Members

ADL Individual Membership
All memberships are one-year subscriptions from the date of purchase.
A limited number of ADL memberships for individual health professionals are available annually. These memberships are extended to health professionals who do not receive access to library resources through their employing institution. Membership contracts and fees are collected by AHEC librarians throughout the state. All memberships are one-year subscriptions from the date of purchase and are intended for the sole use of the individual subscriber. The membership is non transferable.
2010 Price: $160 per year.
UNC Chapel Hill and East Carolina University affiliated ADL Members
AHEC faculty/staff, preceptors, AHEC medical residents with UNC Chapel Hill or ECU affiliations are provided free membership in the ADL in order to authenticate to selected UNC Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library or the ECU Laupus Health Sciences Library The eligibility for access to university resources is verified annually.
